Born, raised and studied in the small town called Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape. This 39-year-old gentleman is known for his love for hunting, especially hunting of the warthog african species. Sonwabo found his inspiration from his maternal grandfather who used to narrate hunting and various animal behaviour stories to him, this while visiting his grandparents at the farm.
Sonwabo started hunting from a young age, hunting birds and small animals. He can name most of the Southern African region animals, this predominantly in his indigenous language of isiXhosa (said with a click). He has inspired many novice black hunters along with his fellow hunter and friend, Phumelele Kwayimani.
Apart from being a hunter Sonwabo is an advanced level firearms instructor on self-loading rifles, semi-auto rifles, handguns, including carbines. He is a qualified tactical shooter as well as a qualified range officer. This member of the Correctional Services is known for his hunting, bush and shooting skills by his peers.
The love for ballistics has made him an expert in shooting at long ranges including reloading his own ammunition. His dream is to see previously disadvantaged people becoming legal and responsible hunters like him. His favourite rifle calibre is a .243 Ackley Improved (AI).
